NBU Library, 16th January 2023: The University Library hosted a library orientation program for the new entrants to the 34 academic departments (including Jalpaiguri Campus) as well as students from the Centre for innovative studies from 7th December 2022 to 16th January 2023. This program strives to better acquaint new members with library resources, services, and rules so they can utilise library services to their fullest potential. In a brief introduction, Dr. Mriganka Mandal, Librarian, Manash Esh, Senior Information Scientist and Assistant Librarian, Yangzee Sherpa, emphasized the resources and services provided by the library. Dr. Parimal Roy, Superintendent of Library Services, has committed his support to make this program a success.

During this timeframe, the library conducted a total of 40 orientation sessions to teach students how to use the services and resources provided as well as to equip them for the successful use of those resources throughout their academic endeavors.

The orientation program is meant to assist library patrons in reaping the full benefits of the library's resources, materials, and services to their maximum fulfillment while creating a competency trust with the library's personnel. This means educating library patrons on how to find information, which fosters feelings of trust and independence.
